How to Add Windows Vista/7 Desktop Gadgets to Windows 8

If you used of any of the desktop Gadgets available in Windows 7/Vista, you will notice that they have all gone once you've upgraded to Windows 8. This is because Microsoft has ceased support for Gadgets under the new operating system. Here's how to install Windows 7 Gadgets when you are using Windows 8.

There's no official way to  install them, but you can get them back by installing a free utility called 8Gadgetpack, available from http://8gadgetpack.bplaced.net.

Installing this utility will create a gadget sidebar to which you can add any of the gadgets you had previously installed on Windows 7 without having to download them again. All user settings should also be preserved. If you don't like the sidebar, you can close it and place the gadgets directly on the desktop as before.

Here is Online Radio Gadget presets many live radio stations. Enjoy!

Saving Our Planet Earth

This script is from one of my clients. But I'd like to share this message with you guys. Do What We Can. Select some passages from that script.

The rise of man’s industrialization was the beginning of the destruction of planet earth.

Global warming - the result of our dependence on fossil fuels for every facet of our creature comforts.

On a smaller scale, other elements also contribute to global warming.

Together, they release pollution and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, like a thick blanket trapping the sun’s heat, causing…a global climate crisis!

(......)

Now,think about it for a moment.
  1. Can YOU reduce your carbon footprint?
  2. Can YOU help?
  3. Can YOU RELEARN how to do things?
Can YOU
  • Use products that consume less energy to manufacture yet is more durable?
  • Use products that take up less space and weight in transportation, thereby reducing emission and boosting fuel efficiency?
Did you know that plastic helps to reduce the 2 PRIMARY USERS of CRUDE OIL?

Plastic uses less than 4% of the world’s Crude Oil compared to
45% in TRANSPORT and
42% in ENERGY

The Airbus A380 consumes 23% less fuel with carbon-fibre reinforced PLASTIC parts which are 60% lighter than steel but 6 times stronger.

Millions of homes are insulated with foam plastics that keep heat out during hot weather and retain heat during cold weather.

Because light weight plastics add only 3.5% in packaging weight, transporting products with plastic packaging offerstrong fuel-efficiency gains

In Europe, the use of plastic packaging saves 101 million barrels of oil, equal to 21km (13 mile) long line of oil tankers, reducing carbon dioxide emission by 43 million metric tons, that is equal to emissions of 12 million cars every year.

Did you know that you can greatly help in cutting down the dependence of fuel by
  • Using public transportation as much as possible.
  • Car-pooling for work and play.
  • And planning your errands for a single trip.
Did you know that by practising the 3Rs- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, can make a big difference to our world?

- Reduce -
  1. Use energy-saving light-bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs.
  2. Reduce electricity use. You will not only extend the equipment life, but also lower their maintenance costs.
  3. Put more items in one plastic bag, as plastic bags are versatile and can carry heavy loads.

- Reuse -
  1. Purchase durable goods to keep them outof the waste stream.
  2. Use refillable sports bottles in school and gym.

- Recycle -

Organise recyclable items and separate them according to
  • aluminium,
  • plastics,
  • paper,
  • metal,
  • rubber and glass,
  • recycle to make into reusable items that continue to enrich our lives.
(......)

YOU can make a difference in SAVING PLANET EARTH.

Passthis earth message around – encourage someone else to REDUCE, REUSE &RECYCLE to save our planet earth.
